Tireless Project: See you next season!

It is once again the time of year that we must end another successful season of the Tireless Project. The Tireless Project is a program centered on cleaning up the river banks in Allegheny County, and has grown tremendously since its founding in 2003 by the Three Rivers Rowing Association in partnership with Nat Stone.

This year The Tireless Project held 23 events all over Allegheny County through out public, chartered and DriftCombers cleanups. We were lucky enough to work with several amazing organizations including Allegheny Land Trust, Friends of the Riverfront, Duquesne Light, REI, Rivers Casino, Americorps, Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, Springdale Team of Active Residents, Nine Mile Run Watershed Association, Steel City Rowing Association, Paddle Without Pollution, American Eagle, Miller/Coors and students from CCAC, Duquesne University, Point Park University, and University of Pittsburgh. We are blessed to have had 488 volunteers come to our events and contributed a total 1,512 hours to cleaning up Pittsburgh’s rivers. Thanks to all the amazing volunteers, we collected a total of 66,345 pounds of debris metal, including 353 tires from the rivers and streams of Allegheny County.

This year’s Tireless Project would not have been successful without our boat captain Evan Clark and our coordinators Hannah Geiser, Theresa Smith, and Lindsey Waugaman. In addition, the Tireless Project would not be successful without the volunteers and local communities who are committed to cleaning up Allegheny County.

We are in the process of planning our Tireless Events for next year, and we encourage everyone to volunteer.
